Josie believes you are the expert on your own life and your greatest resource for healing. She utilizes a person-centered and strengths-based approach to care that incorporates elements of mindfulness, self-compassion, and inner critic work. Josie will walk side-by-side with you through the therapeutic process, guiding you to tap into your inner resources as you engage in your own unique healing journey.

Josie is passionate about her work and values lifelong learning. She enjoys listening to podcasts, reading books, and taking part in trainings that keep her connected to the therapy community. Josie works primarily with adolescents, young adults, and adults on their journey of life, which she thinks is always better when you have a compassionate therapist at your side.

Josie spent her childhood in Nashville and returned to the city that energizes her as an adult. She is a strong believer in self-care, and for her that means spending time with friends – especially while cheering on the Titans and Predators. She enjoys time outdoors, whether that’s on a hike or simply drinking an iced coffee on a stroll in her neighborhood.

How would you describe therapy?

Therapy is the process of looking in a mirror and asking someone to help you clean up all the smudges so you can really see yourself. And then working toward really appreciating what you see.

Most unexpected part of being a therapist?

How important the therapist and client relationship is. I tell my clients that therapy is like dating and you have to find the right match to make meaningful progress.

Favorite part of your job?

Seeing how really simple changes can make a huge difference in someone’s life.

What is Three Cords Therapy

Three Cords Therapy is rooted in the belief that healing happens when your whole self is involved. We were all created with a soul, a body, and a mind and to live fully we must pursue a team that includes all three. When we try and separate the most innate parts of who we are we cut off connection- the most basic human desire. Three Cords aims to help you gently weave yourself back together so that you can not only know yourself better but live in authentic relationships with yourself, God, and others.
